[Brad Anthony] Can you hear me now? :-D
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] Hey brad! Welcome!!
[Brad Anthony] omg it works. Hihi. I was starting to think I was invisible.
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] No you're not :)... Hit us up here whenever you need anything.. Seeing as its a sunday, you'll likely get responses from the dev team tomorrow :)..
[Brad Anthony] Ok, so, Ang you know this, but for the sake of the others who don't know me, everyone should know I'm deeply in love with Ushahidi BUT V3 install is doing my head in.
[Brad Anthony] I'm already losing my hair so this issue is worrisome.
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] ha! don't pluck any more of your hairs...
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] @Jason any chance you could help @BradAnthonyGuest5 :)?
[Brad Anthony] I'm trying. Currently wearing a Darth Vader helmet.
[Brad Anthony] I watched the hangout video of the install process and nearly had an aneurysm. Is there any chance it's going to get easier or have an installer as per V2?

[Brad Anthony] Issue #1: Private install is quite confusing; I'm not having much luck there.
Issue #2: Is a custom app built in MetorJS compatible with the Ushahidi stack? I may have an opp to have an app built at a hackathon in Shanghai this weekend for collecting evidence but with a super simple UI.
[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] Sorry to hear Brad. Would you be able to describe where you are getting stuck?

[Brad Anthony] At the beginning. :-) The process has little resemblance to the Ushi V2 process I know and love.
[Brad Anthony] I started on GitHub, thought I could figure it out, but it's way over my head.

[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] You were trying to use http://www.ushahidi.com/support/install-ushahidi?
[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] At the moment, you have to build the client and API for the open source install to work. There is no installer available yet.
[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] I am hoping I can help if you are trying to build this on a Linux box?
[Brad Anthony] Yes, my host is running linux.
[Brad Anthony] I tried those instructions but they're disorienting; I'm not a developer.

[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] There is an option to deploy to heroku if you want to test it out quickly...

[Brad Anthony] I have a test deployment running v2 on my host that I've been customizing. I read there are plans for some sort of migration help? Is that in the current timeline? I'm quite curious how soon V3 will be fully functional. I especially will need access to the data import features.
[Brad Anthony] Is Heroku a necessary part of the process? I don't know that platform or why it would be valuable.

[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] Heroku allows you to deploy the platform quickly if you want to test but not necessarily for production. v2 to v3 migration is planned and you should also be able to create a deployment on ushahidi.com
[Brad Anthony] I'm not sure I really need a test deployment; maybe down the line later. I'd be fairly content for now if I could get V3 setup on my host and organized efficiently so I can customize the CSS, etc while being able to pull in all future commits from GitHub
[Brad Anthony] How long does setup usually take a developer these days?

[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] ok, so you want a linux box where you have control (ssh, sudo) and it might take you 30 - 45 minutes because you are pulling in dependencies...
[Brad Anthony] Yea, sounds about right. :-)
[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] :-)

[Brad Anthony] What do you think about a MeteorJS app connected to Ushi for data collection and user accounts?

[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] To make that work, you would need to play with the API -- it's not documented yet so using it allows you to explore various end points for starters.
[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] the V3 web app is an angular JS app that uses the API
[Brad Anthony] The V3 mobile app isn't finished yet is it?

[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] no but it's on the way.
[Brad Anthony] how far out is it?
