[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] Also, good morning :)
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] or better yet, maybe a .io deployment with the full feature set(because that's where we have doorbell wired up)

[ushahidi300 (guest),] hey guys, anyone active?
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] Hey!
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] how can we be of help?
[ushahidi300 (guest),] I'm trying to install Ushahidi v3 on my server but i'm having a bit of trouble and was hoping to get some help
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] You're in the right place
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] what trouble are you facing?
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] and what environment are you trying to install in?
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] Linux?
[ushahidi300 (guest),] I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to installing web apps - i'm using an apache based web server
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] No worries at all
[ushahidi300 (guest),] I've copied all the files via ftp into the directory I was going to use, any idea what I should do next?
Nov 03 2015 09:04
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] have you followed these instructions here?
[ushahidi300 (guest),] i've tried to follow those, yes, but i'm not using Heroku, don't have access to a command line on the server i'm installing it onto and am not using Ruby or Vagrant
[Jess Shorland, Ushahidi] @Jason is our go-to V3 installation guru. Any ideas on how to help our guest?
[ushahidi300 (guest),] I was able to install v2 to my server previously by going through the web installer but there doesn't appear to be that option with v3
[ushahidi300 (guest),] please accept my apologies for being such a novice with this
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] Yeah, we're working on making the install process as easy as it was with v2
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] no need to apologise, we're here to help :)
[Jess Shorland, Ushahidi] no apologies necessary

[ushahidi300 (guest),] if it would assist, I would be happy to grant remote access to my computer, so that you could install it for me, rather than try and talk me through the process step by step.
[ushahidi300 (guest),] happy to go through it step by step though

[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] hey @ushahidi300 are you trying to install on a shared host?
[ushahidi300 (guest),] yes
[ushahidi300 (guest),] I have a virtualmin control panel to manage my account, in which I can setup databases and users. I don't have command line access though
Nov 03 2015 09:31
[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] and no shell access at all among the options?
[ushahidi300 (guest),] no, unfortunately :(
[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] the issue is managing the platform dependencies and I am not quite sure how you would do this in that environment...
[ushahidi300 (guest),] I'm just going to check in case my account does allow shell access. I don't think it does, but if I find that it does, would that help do you think?
Nov 03 2015 09:42
[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] It might allow us to install dependencies...
[ushahidi300 (guest),] I think i'm going to speak to the server administrator and see if he can help. Hopefully he will be able to install v3, or at the very least give me shell access so I can have another go at trying to install it. Thanks for your help so far, i'll probably be back if he isn't able to sort it for me :)
[Jason Mule, Ushahidi] ok, please let us know. Would appreciate the feedback...
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] Thanks @Jason :)
[ushahidi300 (guest),] will do, thanks again! and thanks Angela for your help too! bye for now :)
