Alright, I am using postman as you suggested and I am trying to get the access token. I was wondering: how do I know my client_id and client_secret? I am using those I set up for myself in the platform-client. But this is what I get in return:
{
"error": "invalid_client",
"error_description": "Client authentication failed"
}

[David Losada, Ushahidi] mm.. if you changed them in the file app/app.js of platform-client and your browser app is working, then you should use those
[David Losada, Ushahidi] if you didn’t change, them they should be the default :
        OAUTH_CLIENT_ID     : 'ushahidiui',
        OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET :35e7f0bca957836d05ca0492211b0ac707671261’,

Great!
Now it works :D :D
:)
I had to use the same scope as you suggested above, do the access rights change if the scope changes? Is there any documentation about the possible types of scope you can use?

[David Losada, Ushahidi] yes the scope determines what operations your token is allowed to do. I’m not sure if we have documented that though.. :\

[David Losada, Ushahidi] theniq, that’s pretty much Ushahidi v2
[David Losada, Ushahidi] we recommend v3 nowadays, because it’s what we try to keep working. v2 may have obsolescence problems
[David Losada, Ushahidi] nesp, I can’t see any documentations for the scopes right now. The way I find out stuff I don’t know about the api, is by bringing up the Chrome developer console while accessing a v3 website. Then I look in there the requests and responses sent through the network

ok so i am downloading v3, but following instructions from here https://wiki.ushahidi.com/display/WIKI/Installing+Ushahidi+v2.X+on+Amazon+Web+Services
but when i got to changing permissions, it tells me for these two that no such files exist chmod -R 777 media/uploads
chmod 777 .htaccess

these instructions are a lot more confusing for a me, being a newbie and installing on an amazon server
so what i have done till now using instructions from v2, will it create a problem?
should i start over?

i hv downloaded and unpacked the ushahidi files on the public_html directory. now the installation guide tells me this "The dist/ folder contains the suggested configurations for the virtual host (apache-vhost.conf). The configs are quite default, you just need to ensure that there is an AllowOverride directive set to All for your document root (where the app has been unzipped)." but i cant see any dist folder anywhere
do i need to go to the "/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default" to make any changes?
