[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] Hello Donatus. Please do post any questions you have about your installment on this channel here. One of our developers should be able to help.
[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] What issues are you having with the open source installation?
[donatus.abwao] Yes Angela, what I was looking upto is some bit of customization of the form that collects information...
[donatus.abwao] I wanted to disable the map on the form that collects report and insead introduce two fields called latitude and longitude that will then collect the geolocation of the place the report is being made...
[donatus.abwao] and may be to reduce some form fields as well.......

[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] Hey Donatus, with v3, you should be able to configure any types of fields you would like. See our support documentation on the same here: https://www.ushahidi.com/support/post-types

Which version of the platform are you using?

[Romina Suarez, Ushahidi] Hi ignatius.mafura, the new version (V3) is the one that the team is actively supporting, so it’s a much better return on your time to install that one. V2 is not being supported and uses older technology

[Romina Suarez, Ushahidi] Thanks for your feedback. While I understand your frustration, both V2 and V3 require a level of previous knowledge of the technologies used to be able to setup, and specially if looking to customize them. Would you be able to let us know specific areas of difficulty that we can address?

We also provide a sass solution too, which involves zero technical knowledge.

[scottishrocketman] Guys, you need a developer to use the open source Ushahidi, there's no way around it.
[ignatius.mafura] installing a ver 2 instance involves me downloading a file into a root folder.. upload the files through an FTP instance... run the remote site... then specify my database settings.. provide site settings … add an admin password...the run the site.... EASY!!! so does that implies with the V3

[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] Hey Ignatius. We really do understand your frustration, and are also taking this as feedback to look into.We realise that the installation on v2 may have been easier. Unfortunately, as Scottishrocketman just highlighted, the open source version of v3 does require some technical knowledge to be able to set it up.

However, we do provide an easier pathway using our cloud based service

  1. You can sign up and select a plan that works for you on https://ushahidi.com
  2. Groups running social impact projects unable to afford the current pricing model can apply for a free responder plan here: https://www.ushahidi.com/plans/apply-for-free

We also appreciate your feedback.

[ignatius.mafura] which means Ushahidi has now gone commercial... and I cant be able to install an instance where I would want to collect Election Reports, given we have elections in the next 10 days.... how long will my application be granted while m running out of time

[Angela Oduor Lungati, Ushahidi] Hey Ignatius. Grassroots licence applicants receive word within 7 days. However, for applications that require urgent attention, these do get prioritised and handled within 24-48 hours.

[donatus.abwao] Hi Guys, who knows this error? Fatal error: ob_end_clean(): Cannot use output buffering in output buffering display handlers in /home/innovat3/public_html/smartroads/system/core/Kohana.php on line 671
[donatus.abwao] I mean how to solve this? this is ver 2
[donatus.abwao] the Kohana.php is a framework file that should'nt be changed... I guess
