[Invoq John Majone] Is that what I'm supposed to be getting and if so, how do I access the client?

for me the client runs on a different sub-domain and (virtual) server
but i guess it is possible to run on the same?

[Invoq John Majone] I installed from the platform-release, thus, I don't know where the platform-client files are...

Sep 20 2018 12:22
my guess... it runs via nodejs so check connecting via the standard port for that

Ahh check the doku, only when started with --node-server it will be available via port 8080

[David Losada, Ushahidi] it may actually be that mcrypt is no longer needed, since we moved to Laravel recently. Has anyone tried removing the ext-mcrypt dependency from composer.json and running composer update ?
[David Losada, Ushahidi] although looking at Robbie’s messages last night, we may have other issues with php 7.2 …
[David Losada, Ushahidi] for those in Ubuntu 18.04 , Sury’s PPA is probably the best solution: https://launchpad.net/~ondrej/+archive/ubuntu/php . That way it’s possible to install php 7.0 or 7.1

[David Losada, Ushahidi] @rosfox_carter if you could install php 7.0 or 7.1 on your windows server, that would probably help.
[David Losada, Ushahidi] 7.2 or 7.3 will probably not work

[Invoq John Majone] Hi, after I run gulp, I get a message saying "No gulpfile found". And I run gulp at my document root: /var/www; after installing from ushahidi-platform-release...

[Invoq John Majone] Hi all, after installing the API from ushahidi-platform-release; and by installing, I mean, the database tables have been created in the database, and when I go to http://18.219.89.136/platform, some json data shows up. Please how do I configure and access the client from the browser?

[David Losada, Ushahidi] Hi @Invoq , you would only run gulp on ushahidi-client in order to bundle the browser app for web serving. ushahidi-platform-release already contains the result of this, so it doesn’t include the gulpfile
[David Losada, Ushahidi] http://18.219.89.136/ doesn’t look quite right. what happened with index.html ? wasn’t it there when you unzipped the release
[Invoq John Majone] index.html is only in platform. Let me try going to http://18.219.89.136/platform/index.html
[Invoq John Majone] When I go to http://18.219.89.136/platform/index.html, it says "Sorry, this page does not exist"

[Invoq John Majone] Now I get a ushahidi page saying "WHOOPS! That URL doesn't exist" when I go to http://18.219.89.136/index.html, and I can't login using "admin" as username and "administrator" as password.
[Invoq John Majone] Thanks everyone... The password is actually "admin" for the ushahidi-platform-release.

[Invoq John Majone] Just to be clear. I have been able to login as admin on an open source installation on an ubuntu server, hence, my issue is solved. Thanks everyone.

[Invoq John Majone] The actual issue is that my apache server's DirectoryIndex was not set.

[Robbie Mackay, Ushahidi] @invoq what config change did you have to make to fix that? Maybe we can add a note to the docs in case someone else has similar issues

[Invoq John Majone] The actual issue is that my apache server's DirectoryIndex was not set. But when I went to my URL /index.html, it read the file.
