Thanks so much @ushbot !! I am still having an issue. The SMS post is appearing properly on Ushahidi platform sent from FrontlineSMS platform. However it is not being able to display on the map and it is said "...Because they don't include location information." How do I insure a post originating from an FrontlineSMS includes location information?? Thanks

[David Losada, Ushahidi] TheCamelCode, I’m afraid (as far as I know) that there’s no standard for embedding and parsing location information from SMS. If the reporter wrote down in the SMS text some geolocation, coordinates, reference point, etc.. then it’s up to a human to parse that information, edit the post and place the coordinates in its corresponding field.
[David Losada, Ushahidi] In any case, posts that have no parsed location information, still should be visible in the Data view
[David Losada, Ushahidi] @joelaldor , what kind of URL are you getting? Could you share an example (you may obfuscate the domain if you don’t want to share that detail publicly)

Thanks @ushbot . Yes I can view posts from Data view perfectly! If I may know, what medium does Ushahidi recognizes that comes with embedded location informations?

[David Losada, Ushahidi] an easy way for reporters to embed their location information is by using the mobile app
[David Losada, Ushahidi] We used to do that with Twitter too, but I think we had to disable it to comply with their terms of use

[David Losada, Ushahidi] to some extent, yes
[David Losada, Ushahidi] a lot of what is accomplished in deployments is actually hard work by a team of volunteers
[David Losada, Ushahidi] a lot of SMS reports were geolocated thanks to their efforts

Okay.. so if SMS has to come with Geolocations is there a procedure for it to be incorporated in the ushahidi platform? As the team worked on it? Like is there information to be added to the body of the message for it to automatically appear? I don't know if I made the question clear lol!

[David Losada, Ushahidi] Mm I'm not entirely sure. I will ask around and see what I can get for you
[David Losada, Ushahidi] In any case , not automatic, but humanly parsed

@ushbot I have tried the Ushahidi app.. it's really challenged detecting location coordinates!! So far not successful! In case you get insight from those who have used it, let me know!!

[David Losada, Ushahidi] It shouldn’t be any harder than seeing your current location with any location-aware app.. i.e. Google Maps
[David Losada, Ushahidi] what seems to be the challenge?

I selected "location" on the survey as guided. But when I use the mobile app, it's not being capable to detect the location. And even though I set "location" as "required" it is still sending the survey yet on the Ushahidi platform I am told that "post doesn't include location!!". I have tried on several phones using different accounts.. still unsuccessful!

[David Losada, Ushahidi] that is interesting, we’ll give it a try ourselves. All this was with the phones having an internet connection? Or in offline mode?
[David Losada, Ushahidi] If you could send us screenshots and/or a list of steps that you took, that would help us reproduce your experience.
