Hi, my test suite hasn't been running any of my tests. It simply prints that '\n===== Running Tests =====' and then says that the tests have been completed without running them

@samrkinn is your latest change pushed to github?

Yes it is

@samrkinn check the indentation of your test method, also test cases should begin with the word "test", ending them with "test" does not work.

@mvelegar The naming was the issue. I had no idea the name actually mattered. I thought it was just a convention we were using. It works fine now. Thanks!

I've written trapz_parallel, but it doesn't seem to be faster with more threads, and I feel like it shouldn't be that way. Would you mind taking a look at the code I've pushed?

Hi Chris, I'm trying to push my repo but I'm getting this error

~/homework3-Marisa67$ git push

fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/uwhpsc-2016/homework3-Marisa67/': Failed to connect to github.com port 443: Connection timed out

@anders34 We talked quite a bit in class about the balance of thread overhead with amount of work to be done. For example, in Lecture 12 we didn't see much of a benefit from 2-4 threads because, most likely, there just wasn't enough work to do by each thread so the overhead cost outweighed the parallelism.
There should be a more noticable difference with Simson's rule.
Or, try writing your own parallel mat_mul
@Marisa67 Let me enter into your SMC project. I'll take a look at what's going on.
We can chat there.

Looking at GitHub in the meantime I noticed that you created a fork of your private repo. May I ask what you were trying to do?
(No. I'll take care of it.)

by mistake, trying to clone the changes you had made, I forked instead of cloned.

No worries. Okay. I finally opened your project and opened Compiler.term. You should be able to see what I type there. I realized that I cannot open a chat window with the terminal so you might have to switch back and forth from gitter to SMC. Sorry about that.
Anyway, you should see some of my commands in Compiler.term
(SMC doesn't like my connection right now. I keep getting booted from your proejct.)
git push
@Marisa67 I'm trying the push right now
Can you see all of this in the terminal?
Marisa Preciado

I see you and I see that you are trying to push but are getting the delay as I get it
Chris Swierczewski
@cswiercz
May 12 2016 19:16
yeah...hmmm
My guess is that the GitHub education system got really confused by the creation of your fork at Marisa67/homework3-Marisa67.

after a while I get the error, I shut down everything, restarted a couple of times and done this for about an hour thinking it was SMC saturation or something

I ask because the URL is missing the ".git" suffix.

@cswiercz
May 12 2016 19:23
@hughkf Sure. Just a moment.
@Marisa67 hmmm....still nothing. I'm going to try to create a new local clone. It should be a clone of what you have on GitHub so far. Worst case scenario, you'll have to manuall copy recent changes over. Let's ee

Unless my connection sucks it looks like there might be an issue with your SMC project. Email SMC help (instructions on the "Settings" page, link at top) and describe the issue.
If there's nothing wrong on their end then it might be something wrong with GitHub education and that fork issue.

Office Hours - End

(Sorry everyone, but I have to run off to a meeting so I'm ending a little bit early.)
