Hey. I have been busy on MetaControl to opensource it on Github. The refactorings are quite big from you initial code base so it will still take a while.
Will have a look at flowhooks, README though, thanks for pointing out.

I installed the plugin today and I have some problems getting the data to display in the log panel. It seems to work in the query inspector and explorer. Is there anything I'm overlooking?
also what I wonder is it possible to alert based on this datasource?

what i find odd is that in the panel json i see "flowhook" key set to "none", shouldn't it pull the flowhook ID from the datasource config?

yeah, I can confirm. But even if you set it manually in the panel json it won't work. Could you open an issue on GH please?
