At the moment together with @ryanstout we are seeing and coordinating everything necessary with the development team of the foundation

What do you think?

@orbanbotond

I would like to manipulate some nested models:

This is my nested model:
class Checkable < Volt::Model
field :name
field :accomplished, Volt::Boolean
end

[86] volt(main)> store._checklists[0]._checkables.size
=> #<Promise(70151870487780): 0>
[87] volt(main)> store._checklists[0]._checkables << Checkable.new( name: 'Boti', accomplished: true)
=> #<Promise(70151868502100): #<Volt::ArrayModel []>>
[88] volt(main)> store._checklists[0]._checkables.size

<Promise(70151871879040): 0>

My question why the promise resolves to '0'. Sholdn't it be 1?
How can I add properly?

I am a newbie... so please be patient with my question.
Orban Botond
@orbanbotond
I managed to resolve the above. It turned out the the model was erroneous.
c1 = Checkable.new name: 'Boti', accomplished: true
=> #<Checkable id: "2e07..9ced", accomplished: true, name: "Boti">
[4] volt(main)> c1.errors
=> #<Volt::Errors {:accomplished=>["must be true or false"]}>

I find it cause in the validator:
true.is_a? Volt::Boolean
This is weird.

Noob question, sorry. Trying to run the example todo app and seem to have issues with mongodb. I have /data/db with permissions 757, do I have to make it 777?
stevensonmt
@stevensonmt

This line from the todo sample app causes issues:

<tr e-click="params._index = index" class="{{ if (params._index || 0).to_i == index }}selected{{ end }}" >

The current source on github is considerably different from the webpage. Does this reflect stylistic choices or is there no way to get the code posted on the webpage to work?

Has anyone stepped up to continue Volt development? Has anyone approached the guy developing Menilite to see if he is interested in taking over/merging with Volt?
Ryan Stout
@ryanstout
@stevensonmt I haven't had anyone offer yet. I've got a project I'm working on, and if it does well I should be able to get back to more time for Volt, but we'll see.
@stevensonmt (what's the MT in your user name?)
(just curious)

First and middle initial.
Or shorthand for Matt. Either way.

Hi Folks. I'm just picking up Volt, look brilliant! I come from a Ruby and MongoDB background. I'm looking for a simple web framework that will allow me to run queries on data in MongoDB and render it out. What is the best practice for this in Volt? I'm looking for something like a heloo, world scale application which queries mongodb and displays a list of the collections, or something similar.

Hi folks, anyone has an idea how to update a store record using volt for example from an API inside volt itself. Right now, I am deleting the record and creating another one with the required parameters.
Prince Joseph
@princejoseph
@ryanstout ^^ ?
Ryan Stout
@ryanstout
There's a .update method on record model instances that takes a hash of field => value's to update. You can also do .name = value and .save!
From the console for example.
Prince Joseph
@princejoseph
Thank you @ryanstout . I will try that and get back to you

For this challenge you need to create a simple SELECT statement. Your task is to calculate the MIN, MEDIAN and MAX scores of the students from the results table.

Tables and relationship below:

Student Table

id
Name
Result

id
student_id
score
Resultant table:

  • min
    -median
  • max

SELECT MIN(score) as min,MAX(score) as max
FROM student s JOIN result r
ON(s.id=r.id)
GROUP BY score as median;
this is my code everything works apart from median

For the interested people, because our interest in maintaining this project has been ignored will be made a fork to maintain and not let this project die. Coming soon

What happened to http://voltframework.com/docs ? Does anyone know? I can't read the online documentation any more.
Jeff Dickey
@jdickey

I get an HTTP 502 as well. What's more, when I load the site landing page, I get a continuous "Connection lost…Reconnecting in" n "seconds". In Safari, this counts down from 10 to 0 and repeats forever. In Chrome, it counts down from 10, then 15, then 20, then 25 seconds.

McCoy: She's *dead,* Jim!

Ryan Stout
@ryanstout
@jdickey sorry, I was using gitbook for the docs page. It needed a cname change, which I just updated. Might take a while to propagate.

@ryanstout I've been thinking about implementing RethinkDB support for the last few weeks
(RethinkDB supports live updates to db queries)
That might simplify the synchroni
DAMN GITTER DON'T SEND UNFINISHED MESSAGES WHEN I LEAVE THE INPUT FIELD!
What I wanted to say is that it might simplify the message bus a lot
On the downside it would probably need quite some refactoring to work
Any thoughts?

@dfyx
(not sure how long it will take but it's better than no changes at all)

Did you see my suggestion about rethinkdb?
Ryan Stout
@ryanstout
Yea, I had thought about adding rethinkdb a while ago.
The db adapter stuff is fairly abstracted on master now.

@/all hey everyone. Sorry to hit everyone up, but I've been working on a Kickstarter and if it does well, I'm hopeful I can get some more time to work on Volt. (seriously) If you have time, please share this video on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/stout/videos/10100103903270260/?autoplay_reason=gatekeeper&video_container_type=1&video_creator_product_type=0&app_id=2392950137&live_video_guests=0
