Jonas Platte
@jplatte
well I haven't seen it with any other extension before. but I also don't think I have any other extensions that would require user input after installation
Sherab Giovannini
@Shaddy
then I would suggest to update the message so it forces the user to close it and do a choice.
something like "... need to know what toolchain you want to use, please select/choose/... one after closing this message", I know its long, but you get the point

@L0g4n
Hi, i have RLS mode activated in my setting, here's the snippet of my settings: https://gist.github.com/L0g4n/fc6a3e8dfa589b9eae660b75837caba6
But if i use the "autocompletion" in RLS mode for selecting a method and open the brace i DO NOT get autocompletion for the Parameters.
And no, the RLS server does not crash, it shows analysis finished.

Every time I execute a cargo command it opens up a new terminal. Any way to get it to use an existing terminal?
Jesse Rudolph
@jrdlph
is autocompletion supposed to work for rexported extern crates? I am specifically having issue getting autocomplete to work for piston
Jesse Rudolph
@jrdlph
ive tried with both the racer and RLS modes, and neither seems to like acknowledging that much below the piston top level exists, and i suspect that it is because all of the submodules are separate crates
Sherab Giovannini
@Shaddy
is this extension complementing the Rust (rls) extension, or independent?
Jonas Platte
@jplatte
@Shaddy This is a fork of the Rusty Code extension, which was the first VSCode Rust extension available.
the rls one is newer than this one
both are actively maintained, this one by @KalitaAlexey and the rls one by @nrc (who is leading the official rust dev tools team)
Personally I haven't found a big difference between this extensions RLS mode and the Rust (rls) extension
this one can also work without the RLS, instead using racer, and I think rustsym, directly, though I don't think it's really a good idea to use that over the RLS right now
Sherab Giovannini
@Shaddy
thanks for the detailed answer @jplatte
the good point is that we have actively maintained plugins, which is always good news
Jacob Payne
@Latrasis
Hello @Shaddy! Thank you so much for you work! I was wondering when the next release with #315 will come out. (WSL user)
Sherab Giovannini
@Shaddy
Hi @Latrasis I work hard everyday (:D) but unfortunately not on this project. Guess that you have confused me with the repo owner or something :P
Jacob Payne
@Latrasis
Ah, sorry! I'm guessing it's @KalitaAlexey?
Jonas Platte
@jplatte
@Latrasis Yes, he's the right one ^^
Jacob Payne
@Latrasis
Hello @KalitaAlexey, any ideas when the next release should come out? Thank you!
Vesa Vilhonen
@vvilhonen
hey, how have you configured build tasks with the plugin?
default build task with command "cargo build"?
also how to get RLS working with tests?
I have my tests in tests/ dir where cargo finds them fine but don't seem to have any RLS support in editing
Vesa Vilhonen
@vvilhonen
cool, how does it work?
I guess the cargo $0 will get the first argument populated from somewhere
Vesa Vilhonen
@vvilhonen
is code navigation working for anyone with RLS?
Douman
@DoumanAsh
Trying out vscode with RLS but many definitions are missing for me by default. I'm wondering how RLS exactly get all symbols?
Jan Niklas Hasse
@jhasse
@vvilhonen Yes, VS Code passes the task name as the first argument. For example build.
Rizky Luthfianto
@rilut
Hi, I think vscode-rust doesn't working on my vscode (on High Sierra)
I'm trying to use the legacy mode btw
Rizky Luthfianto
@rilut
Opened an issue on #370 :smile:

@jamesray1
I can't get Racer to be on, although it has been on before.
I have Racer in my Path.
User settings:
{
    "rust.mode": "rls",
    //"rust.rustup": {
    //    "toolchain": "stable-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu"
    //},
    //"rust.racerPath": "",
    "rust.rustLangSrcPath": "/home/james/.rustup/toolchains/stable-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu//lib/rustlib/src/rust/src",
    "rust-client.updateOnStartup": true,
    "rust.all_features": true,
    "files.autoSave": "afterDelay",
    "files.hotExit": "onExitAndWindowClose",
    "rust.show_warnings": true,
    "rust.build_lib": true,// if you have both a binary and library in your crate, set to true to build the library.
    //"rust.build_bin" - if you have multiple binaries, you can specify which to build using this option.
    //"rust.cfg_test" - build and index test code (i.e., code with #[cfg(test)]/#[test])
    //"rust.all_targets" - build and index code for all targets (i.e., integration tests, examples, and benches)
}
vscode-rust is installed an enabled, as well as Rust rls.
James Ray
@jamesray1
Also when I debug I get a prompt: To properly function, the extension needs to know what nightly toolchain you want to use.
Naman Kanakiya
@namankanakiya
I get an issue that says: "You have chosen RLS mode, but RLS is not found"
User Settings:
{
    "window.titleBarStyle": "custom",
    "rust.mode": "rls",
    "rust.rustup": {
        "toolchain": "stable-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu",
        "nightlyToolchain": "nightly-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu"
    }
}
I do have RLS installed as well, and it seems to be able to load properly
Naman Kanakiya
@namankanakiya
Also added rust-client.channel": "stable" but that doesn't seem to help either

Is anyone else constantly irritated by the format on save option? It pops up a big window every time it fails, which for me is frequently, since I have my editor set to save every time it loses focus.
Is there a way to make it fail silently, or at least not open a big window every time?
sdyalor
@sdyalor
hey
i cant install nightly cuz clippy is unabailable

rls errors on @import when parsing source (from gtk-rs). Is this know behavior? Is it a bug?
