I guess I should make my question more specific: is there an import method that under normal circumstances causes many articles (tens, hundreds) to have the same creation date? Occasional duplicates or unusual import data (which explicitly specifies the same creation date for multiple article) are not my concern
rastacalavera
@rastacalavera:matrix.org

I tried to save an article from https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-change-ssh-port-in-linux/ and in wallabag there is a bunch of cloudflare stuff saying wait. it looks like this
is there documentation on how to get around that?
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org
[m]
rastacalavera: it's quite difficult to pass over cloudflare captcha, so unfortunately no
rastacalavera
@rastacalavera:matrix.org
[m]
ah that's a bummer. i wanted to archive the page rather than just bookmark it
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org
[m]
rastacalavera: there are some other ways to archive the page without going through this captcha
For several pages (like for bloomberg that always fails to fetch here) I make a snapshot using a Firefox addon called WebScrapBook
and I have some custom things to insert the captured page in wallabag
rastacalavera: if your wallabag instance is behind your home ISP you may succeed in fetching the page after solving captcha from another device but it's not a bulletproof technique
rastacalavera
@rastacalavera:matrix.org
[m]
there wasn't a captcha when i visited in firefox. just used the wallabag addon
how do you go from webscapbook to wallabag?
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org
[m]
there's no official way as of today, basically I host the captured page to be accessible from the wallabag instance and I save the url of this hosted page instead of the original page to wallabag
I have some custom modifications on wallabag to extract the real address from the capture (there are some metadata in the resulting html file) and save it as the address of the entry
rastacalavera
@rastacalavera:matrix.org
[m]
like you host it on your own webserver and then save it?
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org
[m]
yes
(that's really shaky I know)
rastacalavera
@rastacalavera:matrix.org
[m]
oh man that sounds like more effort than i want to do. interesting approach though
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org
[m]
WebScrapBook supports a webserver as the saving destination so it could be possible to create an endpoint to wallabag to handle webscrapbook saved pages, I may work on it later this year
(and directly save pages to wallabag from the webscrapbook addon)
rastacalavera
@rastacalavera:matrix.org
[m]
i imagine that would be a can of worms for someone who runs it behind a reverse proxy in a docker container like myself
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org
[m]
well, not necessarily
I maintain my own docker image of wallabag with a system to easily inject patches, I'm working to push it as a possible new official image. With this it could only imply to copy a patch to a folder to add this kind of feature
rastacalavera
@rastacalavera:matrix.org
[m]
oh! multiarch?
I am currently using ikaruswill/wallabag:2.4.2 for the raspberrypi
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org
[m]
here is the rewrite: wallabag/docker#256
I didn't check for the multiarch part but there's an open issue for that
rastacalavera
@rastacalavera:matrix.org
[m]
yeah just doesn't seem like a high thing up on the list IMO but I don't follow the issue tracker closely

@jurgenhaas:matrix.org

Regarding the Cloudflare cpatcha issue I wonder if it's worth talking to them and asking for an "agreement" so that wallabag sends a specific header which allows Cloudflare's border gate to identify it as such and avoid the captcha check. I've had a similar situation with drupal.org and they responded real quick. OK, much smaller scale, but as Cloudflare is known as the "good people" helping the net, they may well be open to that.

Hi, we (yunohost users) have a migration issue from 2.3.8 to 2.4.2 with mysql : wallabag/wallabag#5233. How can I help fix it? In a similar issue the fix was to alter the migration script (wallabag/wallabag#4832). I don't know why this is needed or if that's the best way? Maybe ping kdecherf since you provided the fix for the similar issue?
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org

Hey nicofrand could you add a dump of the complete schema of your database please? I will look at it to find if there are other corner cases with this migration (as it updates different tables related to oauth2)
(add it to your original issue and mention me)

Hi all! :wave:
I'm struggling with 2 things:
  1. The link to the English documentation that this Gitter room asks whether I've read before posting here 404s: https://doc.wallabag.org/en/master/
  2. When I try to save a YouTube link it saves a German-language consent page instead: wallabag/wallabagger#268
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org
[m]
nicofrand: hey, would it be possible for you to make a mysqldump of the database without data? I would like to inject the complete schema you have for testing my fix

Hi @Kdecherf
, I am afk until Monday evening. But yes I could. My wallabag data is not that private though except the user table I guess
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org
[m]
nicofrand: no problem, having actual data is not necessary in this case

Hi, just a question, Is it possible to install wallabag on a shared web hosting service with no root access?

Hello, I've been getting an exception every time I try to add a URL via the mobile app. I'm using wallabag.it for my server. Here's the stacktrace: https://paste.ee/p/qLKtS

Is this a known issue or should I file a new GitHub issue?

I was originally getting an exception that I discovered was due to my subscription on wallabag.it expiring. I renewed it and was able to add URLs via the Firefox extension, but have now been getting this exception on mobile.

hey team :wave: I just installed Wallabag via Docker and I'm really happy with this product! I'm quite glad I gave it a shot. I have a question about contributing back to the project: I noticed that a lot of the English copy is a bit rough around the edges. Can I just submit a PR against messages.en.yml for my suggested changes, or do I have to do anything more? I noticed that the translations have a "Translated using Weblate" as a recent comment which makes me think that they are being generated automatically. I want to make sure my submissions don't break anything, nor do they get overwritten
kdecherf
@kdecherf:matrix.org
[m]
@a10software hey :)
We now use weblate to ease contributions around translations, so you can contribute to wallabag on weblate and it will automatically push a PR on github

Hi, I have Wallabag running inside Docker and I am trying to front it with nginx. I want it to run on a subdirectory (so I can access it via domain.com/wallabag/). I can now hit wallabag inside docker, but wallabag redirects me to domain.com/login. Is there some config variable where I can specify a different approot?
