I'm just curious how you go about adding the files in hls format to ipfs? Any instruction on this where it is compatible with watchit?
We are currently working on a resolver thsr can ingest the data coming from a file or url
yes, you can ingest HLS format using the watchit-gateway
please check the USAGE.md intructions file
I was looking at the code for that but I couldn't find anything that actually converted media to hls. I assume you would use ffmpeg to do this and found no reference.
ahh!! so far we have support for already converted HLS, so basically you need add your HLS into IPFS before ingest i in gateway

I wonder if there could be a live channels feature? Assuming one could pipe media from ffmpeg to the WIP resolver continuously.
but it doesn't sound like a bad idea, it would be interesting to implement a complete decentralized environment for live streaming using webrtc
Never really looked into webrtc. I guess I may have to. I was just thinking adding the hls segments to ipfs while updating the hls playlist in orbitdb. It would be a bit of a delay but could be backed by ipfs and the more watching the better. With rewind and pause as long as someone has the data still.
IPFS really excites me. I can't wait to see what this project becomes. I have to go now but will be checking in from time to time.
