    @weaverbel sounds sensible to me

    @weaverbel Can we pin a post in to this chat room or add a "this is what is it for" header to the page?
    Joel Nothman
    @jnothman
    Thanks for the comments @timtomch and sorry for the slow response. I'm not sure to what extent Portia has improved. Its interface is not as smooth as other visual scrapers (like import.io, yes, @richyvk), and feels like it has been engineered to align with scrapy rather than ux-oriented development practice. Its advantage is that it's open source and can be translated to scrapy. Launching it (if not using the paid, hosted version) requires launching a docker which is easy for someone with tech background but has some technical overhead for others.
    @richyvk: Does xpath make you shudder because you had some prior familiarity with CSS? Because it's more tightly tied to the document's tree structure? Because slashes are less friendly than spaces? Some other reason? I'm curious
    James Baker
    @drjwbaker
    Seems the /topic slash command no longer works :(
    Scratch that, I think only @weaverbel have permissions :)

    Thanks @weaverbel for the additional suggestions. I'll get in contact via e-mail.

    @c-martinez @mkuzak firing up the zoom shortly. Hope you're around for a chat. https://zoom.us/j/913312113
    @weaverbel @drjwbaker @jezcope I say go with all gitter rooms on the one account, so ditch this one and use the new lobby. I know people now about this room, but you can leave a message to use the other one frequently. Best thing is a clean swap if it's going to happen.

    @richyvk
    cool

    @ostephens
    Think I agree with @richyvk - if we are going to have several LC rooms, better to have them all work and be managed in the same way
    James Baker
    @drjwbaker
    Okay. I'm happy to with a wholesale switch to https://gitter.im/LibraryCarpentry/
    Can we archive this?
    Once we agree, I'll edit links across the lesson repos.
    James Baker
    @drjwbaker
    Hi all. We are proposing to stop using this chatroom (archiving it if possible..), leave a message here to say it is closed and move to 3 chat rooms:
    I feel we need some kind of Quorum
    Owen Stephens
    @ostephens
    +1 from me
    James Baker
    @drjwbaker
    The case for is: this place is too small for us now as we are loosing the threads of many discussions, in particular those of new people saying hi (which can get swamped by other good natter); we get a natural filter point that feeds more obviously into raising issues against lessons
    The case against is: stability; it takes some work to unpick all the links; sentimentality
    Your opinions are appreciated (we'll obviously wait for people in various timezones to have a say before we take an action)
    James Baker
    @drjwbaker
    On Slack: I don't want it as it raises a bar to new people (Gitter is super simple chat tech), it isn't open source, and it would distract from raising Issues on repos (which is much more transparent, open, traceable)

    I agree about Slack: it has its place but has a fairly high barrier to entry — plus I'm fed up of having so many different Slack teams to switch between
    Cam Macdonell
    @cmacdonell
    :+1: for Gitter over Slack
    Thomas Guignard
    @timtomch
    Same for me. Go Gitter. And huge thanks to @weaverbel for letting this community chat on her virtual front porch for so long.
    James Baker
    @drjwbaker
    @timtomch I think @weaverbel rather likes the idea of inviting us all to her porch, virtual or otherwise.
    Jez Cope
    @jezcope
    My thanks also to @weaverbel for hosting us for so long!
    Cam Macdonell
    @cmacdonell
    I'm not sure this was mentioned, but the big win from my perspective for Gitter is newcomers can lurk without even having to login.
    Richard Vankoningsveld
    @richyvk
    Please don't switch to Slack! Gitter FTW!
    Tim Dennis
    @jt14den
    I want the rocking chair on @weaverbel’s porch
    Belinda Weaver
    @weaverbel
    Yours @jt14den !!!
    Belinda Weaver
    @weaverbel
    Feeling like an empty nester as you all prepare to leave home sob! sob!
    Only kidding !
    Yes +1 to Cam on gitter vs slack. Slack feels too exclusive!
    +1 to @jezcope on too many slack teams. My problem too.
    Tim Dennis
    @jt14den
    @weaverbel Well, we are in the era of the boomerang kids, keep our room ready just in case
    Belinda Weaver
    @weaverbel
    And dinner's in the oven @jt14den ;-)
    Tim Dennis
    @jt14den
    the one think i like about slack is disposable channels — easy to create for projects, etc.
    but yeah, too many teams! boo teams
    Belinda Weaver
    @weaverbel
    We will never want to dispose of Library Carpenters @jt14den !

    @jnothman replied to you here: https://gitter.im/LibraryCarpentry/Lobby to coax you over to the new room :)

    proposed closing message
    Welcome to Library Carpentry. This was our first discussion room, but we have now outgrown it so it is now closed. Replacing it are three rooms:
