kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
why it use node v8?
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
Meteor works with node v8
Some newer versions don't work fully yet
node v8 is supported, there is sometimes new versions for it, newest is 8.16.1
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
What Linux you have?
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
arch linux
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
Hmm, I have not used arch
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
ok np, some errors but it going ahead
arch is linux with latest packages
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
It just installs Node 8.16.1, if n does not work, you can use nvm, or something else
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
ok thanks
is wekan is a true todo management system?
Meteor 1.8.1 has been installed in your home directory (~/.meteor).
Writing a launcher script to /usr/local/bin/meteor for your convenience.
This may prompt for your password.

To get started fast:

  $ meteor create ~/my_cool_app
  $ cd ~/my_cool_app
  $ meteor

@xet7
Wekan is not just todo. Wekan has huge amount of features.
And huge amount of code
it has taken many years to develop
by Wekan contributors from all over the world
Wekan is used in most countries of the world https://snapcraft.io/wekan
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
oh thanks a lot
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
And Wekan is translated to about 50 languages https://www.transifex.com/wekan/wekan/
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
wekan is very great.
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
Yes.
I have maintained Wekan since 2016-12
There are new releases often, new features and fixes
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
oh so much work has been done in wekan
actually i want to convert wekan to todolist like todoist
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
Yes, Wekan is now v3.37 so it's over 300 releases that I have made
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
oh really hard work is done on wekan.
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
It's possible to add themes to Wekan boards https://github.com/wekan/wekan/wiki/Custom-CSS-themes
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
why you use Stylus for CSS?
thanks
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
Wekan did exist before I started maintaining it
I did add pull requests, features, fixes etc, but I did not choose original framework etc
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
thank you very much for maintaing such a great project
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
Thanks :)
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
Thanks a lot, I successfully started wekan
is wekan front end is progressive web app?
what websocket protocol wekan use?
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
Wekan is SPA (Single Page Application) that has mobile web mode too. Wekan uses websockets provided by Meteor.
I don't know what protocol specifically
Wekan is not progressive web app, it does not work without Javascript.
If you are interested in frontends without Javascript, here are some starting points https://github.com/wekan/demo/wiki/Frontend-Browser-No-Javascript
Lauri Ojansivu
@xet7
Mostly as a a hobby joke, I'm trying to implement Wekan with something other web framework, but I have had no success yet https://github.com/wekan/demo/wiki/Roadmap
Rewriting Wekan most likely would take many years
So I just continue maintaining current Meteor-based Wekan
kapilpipaliya
@kapilpipaliya
thanks
Mike
@mhsutton_gitlab
@xet7 just moved from Jira to Wekan and I think it is fab. You've done a superb job maintaining it. I and my team with do our best to contribute and support. The agile project management tooling space is just full of lots of substandard tooling, wekan really hits the sweet spot for me. I especially love the swimlanes - they totally swung it for me
