    We'll see it in Spyder 3.2.
    I also wrote for CVXPY.
    Regarding ZIP, what about using PeaZip and choosing ZIP with Ultra?
    stonebig
    @stonebig
    hi @RoyiAvital I saw the post on cvxpy. integrating pyreadline back is an annoyance, first try failed. but I will retry.

    @stonebig , Have you thought about collaboration with PortableApps?
    They can assist with being really portable. Its their specialty.

    coming winpython shall auto-include ffmpeg (moviepy/imageio/matplotlib needs) and nodejs (jupyterlab need)
    stonebig
    @stonebig
    so ... I gave up on having a 'nice' Jupyterlab / Ipywidgets for this round: still weeks away. I kept the nodejs, as I think it will become a critical part of jupyter ecosystem. I rediscovered ffmpeg usage in matplotlib/imageio/moviepy, and indirectly in opencv/nltk, so I included it.

    as of now: ipyleaflet, bqplot, bokeh do work in interactive mode in jupyterlab, holoviews and matplotlib do not. didn't check on altair (no release since centuries)

    @Winand
    why there's no grequests package in WinPython?
    stonebig
    @stonebig
    @Winand : kennethreitz now suggests (develops?) requests-threads on the homepage of grequests: https://github.com/kennethreitz/grequests
    Makarov Andrey
    @Winand
    oh, he's updated Readme recently.
    I think it's a nice addition to requests. But gevent is required bygrequests, twisted by requests-threads and no additional packages are required by requests-futures since Py3.2.
    Makarov Andrey
    @Winand
    parsing a lot of webpages (in my company's LAN) performs WAY better with concurrent requests.
    stonebig
    @stonebig
    so yo use requests-futures ?
    Makarov Andrey
    @Winand
    nope. i use grequests.) but i didn't know about the existence of requests-threads/futures
    Makarov Andrey
    @Winand
    Ok. I've tried requests-futures. It kinda works.) BUT. As well I had to remove grequests and gevent because of "LoopExit: This operation would block forever" kennethreitz/grequests#55

    re-flushed the WinPython roadmap: january = jupyterlab-beta + pandas-0.21.1, April = Jupyterlab-1.0 +scipy-1.1 + Pandas-1.0 , June/July = Python-3.7 , September/october = Pandas-2 ... Visibility on JupyterLab 'good maturity' point is still unclear, I think it will be around scipy-2018 (early july)

    For 2019 , bigger Cloud Shift and Microsoft Python integration shall happen and require a re-thinking of the project usefullness.
    stonebig
    @stonebig
    the "jupyterlab challenge" is now equivalent to the node-gyp problem winpython/winpython#587
    stonebig
    @stonebig
    ok, problem has gone away for now.

    @Winand
    i've installed 3.6.4.0b4 (x64) but the issue is still there. And yes, my way to switch layouts is not frequently used, but it allows to switch either russian-english or russian-spanish with Alt+Shift. Three layout is a pain.))
    Is there a way i can debug this issue? i've tried to start Spyder with parent console (--show-console) but it prints nothing to it
    I've tried to change shortcuts to Ctrl+1/2/3. Does not help.
    stonebig
    @stonebig
    @Winand , I can't see what specific winpython would be on this: it's pure windows (which anaconda is not 100%). So hypothesis is a windows weakness of Spyder or PyQt5. Carlos flagged as "bad" the very fresh PyQt5.10 spyder-ide/spyder#6289 , so I won't try it today.
    Russian users have never been very lucky on Windows in the past.
    stonebig
    @stonebig
    don't find a reference to this sort of problem on PyQt5 ... could it be an orphan desease ?
    if it's pyqt5, there may be other people impacted on russia forums
    Makarov Andrey
    @Winand
    @stonebig I do not understand. I've tried Spyder 3.2.3 from Anaconda and it does not have such an issue. But Spyder 3.2.1dev and 3.2.4 from Winpython do have. So it's the problem of WinPython?
    And i've switched Windows interface to Spanish recently and use english interface in Spyder. So it does not seem to be a language problem.
    Makarov Andrey
    @Winand
    hmm, it thread stack says ActivateKeyboardLayout when Spyder is freezed. Maybe it can help.)

    stonebig
    @stonebig
    @winand, so today I tried the <Alt>Shift on my Win10 PC (that has ENG and FRA) . it's pretty handy that shortcut I didn't notice before. It doesn't bloz up my Spyder, but Spyder doesn't take it live (or cold restart) into account.
    I may miss a detail on how you paramatrise your change, mine only change keyboard apparently
    image.png
    over after restart with english keyboard
    niether the start menu switched to english, all remained good old french....
    stonebig
    @stonebig
    don't catch how you can switch of langage interface without a logout/login
    lost the initial thread of your comment... was in spyder issues ?
    Makarov Andrey
    @Winand
    What? No. I do not switch Windows interface language. Spyder hangs when i change keyboard layout with alt+shift+1/2/3 shortcuts which I set for each layout in Windows keyboard settings. Spyder hangs only if it's an active application at the moment. That's all.

    after a loong work, JupyterLab starts looking truly at beta level. and so WinPython-201801 objective is at reach.

    @stonebig
    Jupyterlab-0.31.12 looks now ok for all : needed to avoid lastest jupyter-client, and latest development version of holoviews+bokeh
