Reading the comments I think your /etc/conf.d/docker should do the same

In theory it should build the assembly

Yeah, it's just the place where your init system stored the parameterss

It's kind of like maven - you have a central docker repository and local copies of the images you have used so far

on your machine should should have a docker directory somewhere in /var/lib

images that are assembled locally end up in your local registry

this is what the build process does

in /var/lib/docker/vfs/dir you should see all the virtual file systems that you have locally
