hi!
I'm fiddling with this, and when doing getUpdates, it seems that I always get the messages even if they were already got. Now, reading the api, it talks about long-polling, and that messages are not kept more than 24h. I was wondering how to actually poll out the already read messages, but judging from all that info (specially long polling wikipedia page), I think that messages will stay on the server for 24h, assuming I'll take and process them in those 24h, so there's no way to poll them out, am I right?

Incoming updates are stored on the server until the bot receives them either way, but they will not be kept longer than 24 hours.
it's this what made me think that there's a way to actually take the already read messages out
I thought that using getUpdates meant to receive them as that sentence says

Use ?offset=[last_highest_update_id +1] (you can also send this as POST)

Does it register messages starting with /?
By the way, this gitter is for yagop's telegram bot, not the official bot API
