Hi Justin
I just had an enquiry from Cloud Academy
They'd like to use nomorecraptions on the videos on AWS
They'd be happy to beta test with us
So we'd need to have a basic start from scratch functionality
Perhaps with an accurate transcription upload (as they will have these for all the new / future lessons) and sync to Sync Words to create an accurate caption file

Then they were talking about an automated translation to other languages

That sounds great Michael. We're currently working on the blank video template and how to save caption timing, insert new ones between already created, etc. Where do they currently host their videos?

S3 clouds
I'm sure they'd be very happy to assist

So they have their own API for interacting with their videos?

Here's what they told me:
ok, we use amazon api to generate the url of a custom time window. I think we can customise everything to be compliant with your platform
We have private videos on S3 and we use temporary URLs to make them public for the user. Do you think this could be a technical problem?
We have an html5 video player that plays video from S3 and CloudFront
They have 450 hours of video content (backlog)
And they have committed to doing all their new videos with captioning and translations
I've never used Amazon web services
But I've seen that team treehouse hosts their learning videos on s3 servers

We'll have to find out more concerning how the temporary URLs work. I created the current db based on the assumption that the video's URL would be the unique primary key.

Right
Like a permanent thing?
Anything I can do to help with testing?

Perhaps this weekend?
Would love to see your progress on the blank video template

I'll make the blank video template top priority and hopefully have it functional for testing by the weekend. It's not going to be pretty yet, we're trying to build it so that the backend is just an API call to the db so it can be used for the Chrome extension and the site. But when I get it working I'll mock up a temporary page for testing that functionality.

Ok
That's fine
