Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
User logins have been added.
So Facebook, twitter, Google+, and through email works.
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
Our goal is for you both to have a strong portfolio project.
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
Stripe donation functionality has also been begun (since the Hackathon Starter already has the API baked in, it shouldn't be hard to finish it off)
This is site's current state: https://agile-chamber-1551.herokuapp.com/
And per Quincy's advice, I added the NewRelic addon to the Heroku instance so the dyno doesn't go to sleep.
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
Quincy and Michael spoke last week (March 25), and Michael stopped responding to Quincy after he said we’d like to wrap up the project. We haven’t heard from him since.
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
I was actually just messaging with him over Gitter on Monday.
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
This is now two meetings he has no-showed in a row.
Arthur Head
@ahead123
so what's the next steps?
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
Last week when I showed Michael the functionality, he told me that he was happy with what he saw and with our progress.
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
Well. The two of you have made a positive contribution to the deaf community with this tool.
Whether or not what you have built is delivered as a NoMore Craptions project is ultimately at your discretion. You could also open source it.
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
There are are a couple of things I'd like to polish off. Like the video's control bar and definitely the overall look (tweaking the CSS, etc.)
Arthur Head
@ahead123
yeah agreed - we should definitely clean up the design
making it open source sounds interesting
Quincy Larson
@QuincyLarson
Based on Michael’s communication up to the moment he decided to ignore me, I think we should assume that even if we handed him a finished version of the current app, there’s a good chance he would do little to promote it.
You two own the copyright to the code by virtue of having created it. You’ve put tens, maybe hundreds of hours of effort into building this tool. It can help a lot of people help hearing impared people more effectively.
I don’t think the emotions of one man should prevent this hard work from being of social benefit. I strongly encourage you to open source the project and put it up on Heroku so that people can use it. We will certainly do everything in our power to promote it.
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
Alright.
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
Ultimately, we do pro bono work that benefits these organizations to give your portfolio a leg up. We want what’s in the best interest for the two of you. I understand @yaskyj that you’re in contact with the stakeholder outside of our process, but as far as Free Code Camp goes - the stakeholder has abandoned our project.
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
I didn't realize that he hadn't responded to anyone but me.
Quincy Larson
@QuincyLarson
Justin and Arthur, how many more hours do you think it will take you to get this project to a finished state?
Can we talk on the phone 4-way? Michael and I are already together on a call
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
Everything is pretty much done, except for the transcript upload from text, video control bar, and figuring out mp3 conversion (if that's possible through an api since it's against YouTube TOS).
Yeah, sure.
Quincy Larson
@QuincyLarson
OK
I’ll call both of you. One moment.
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
Arthur? Is that okay with you?
Arthur Head
@ahead123
yeah sure
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
Screenhero?
ok
Arthur Head
@ahead123

i'm actually headed to the airport to pick up my wife so you guys have a good nigt

Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
Yeah, thanks guys.
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
Thank you both. Have a great night!
Version 3 of the youtube api finally has captioning support
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
Hi everyone!
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
Hey Michael.
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
I’m sorry I’m a few minutes late. I was commuting home and got caught with the baseball crowd. Lots of traffic.
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
Should we wait a bit more?
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
We should wait for Arthur
Justin Rogers
@yaskyj
Good deal.
Michael D. Johnson
@CodeNonprofit
@ahead123 Are you around?
Michael Lockrey
@MichaelLockrey
