Brian Glusman
@bglusman
nice
what company? still in Pittsburgh? (that’s where you are/were right?)
yburyug
@ybur-yug
I was in Columbus, actually. They're called Cometa. The office I'm joining is in San Juan, Puerto Rico
kind of a wild card but caribean life and no income tax cant be too bad
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
oh, wow
so you’re moving to PR?
that’s exciting, never been there
have you?
yburyug
@ybur-yug
I had a vacation planned there that was cancelled. So I'm going in blind haha.
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
wow, that’s quite a leap of faith
but I imagine carribean US territory life may have advantages? I dunno
could be expensive, everything on islands gets expensive because of transport
yburyug
@ybur-yug
rent will run me about a grand or a bit more if its furnished already. everyone thats already there has been in a similar boat and loves it. I'll be in a very english-centric area, too. My spanish is rusty but exists. I'm thinking itll be a pretty awesome adventure though. No girlfriend/wife or kids, only a cat. So its not like im leaving much behind. haha
overall the COL seems lower, especially with the tax situation though
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
nice
well, maybe I’ll come visit you someday if it works out :-)
yburyug
@ybur-yug
haha all are welcome :D
the only real downside is itll be unreasonable to wear my leather pants in 85 degree weather year round
but I think I can deal with that one haha
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
you own leather pants?
really?
I’m not sure I want to ask about that one
you working on anything fun by the way? I’m kind of semi-free to do some open source work until I start my first client, but I’m not sure what to work on… I might just try and play with Elixir or learn React better or something, but dunno
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
nah, its always reasonable to wear leather pants
yburyug
@ybur-yug
well I've been toying with getting the features proposed for gkv's 0.3 release out, but with 2 weddings in 2 states and moving to PR in the next few weeks ive been at a relative standstill on it. The README's checklist is current. @bglusman .
on leather pants: yes I've two pairs. Red and black. Real not pleather. I just enjoy collecting ridiculous pants
others include: floral print to leopard print, floral print, and straight up all leopard print. lol
(floral print to leopard meaning starts floral ends leopard. because apparently that fucking exists and I needed it lol)
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
I just plugged debt ceiling in tech debt article on HN front page
will take a look at gkv checklist
yburyug
@ybur-yug
link?
yburyug
@ybur-yug
ah nice. first comment! It really is pretty nice (in my experience thus far). In combo with Guard it has led me to keeping and eye on how I'm structuring things as I develop features etc
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
has it added any value for you since we added to gkv by the way?
nice
I haven’t used with guard but makes sense
I wish ruby critic had an easy way to skip the churn analysis, would help speed
yburyug
@ybur-yug
yeah I actually havent committed guard to the official repo. I should do that tonight and document it
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
:+1: for guard
yburyug
@ybur-yug
I'm talking with thibaud (the guy whose current maintaining guard-livereload) about coming on as a maintainer
sifting through issues a bit and trying to see if theres an accessible PR I could throw them
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
neat
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
hmm, I asked a question in rubocop gitter but bbatsov hasnt responded... curious for your take @ybur-yug if interested in this potential rubocop extension I discuss there
yburyug
@ybur-yug
sorry @bglusman , just saw this. Will check it out tomorrow (been travelling for weddings and AFK the last week)
PS never attend 3 weddings in 3 states within a 2 week span before moving 1500 miles away.
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
When do you hit PR?
Rick Carlino
@RickCarlino
@ybur-yug where you been d00d?
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
@RickCarlino I just skipped a wedding and I'm seeing them at a wedding tomorrow :(
