@ybur-yug
yeah I actually havent committed guard to the official repo. I should do that tonight and document it
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
:+1: for guard
yburyug
@ybur-yug
I'm talking with thibaud (the guy whose current maintaining guard-livereload) about coming on as a maintainer
sifting through issues a bit and trying to see if theres an accessible PR I could throw them
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
neat
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
hmm, I asked a question in rubocop gitter but bbatsov hasnt responded... curious for your take @ybur-yug if interested in this potential rubocop extension I discuss there
yburyug
@ybur-yug
sorry @bglusman , just saw this. Will check it out tomorrow (been travelling for weddings and AFK the last week)
PS never attend 3 weddings in 3 states within a 2 week span before moving 1500 miles away.
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
When do you hit PR?
Rick Carlino
@RickCarlino
@ybur-yug where you been d00d?
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
@RickCarlino I just skipped a wedding and I'm seeing them at a wedding tomorrow :(
Rick Carlino
@RickCarlino
. #20SomethingProblems
yburyug
@ybur-yug
I'm actually at JFK on my layover right now omw to san Juan after wedding frenzy lol
In the one I was best man in my dude said 'i will' instead of 'i do' though so that was funny
Rick Carlino
@RickCarlino
hahahah. Better than "Yeah, I mean, I can try. I guess"
Rick Carlino
@RickCarlino
@ybur-yug I'm eating an alcapurria in your honor.You there yet?
yburyug
@ybur-yug
holy shit @ living in PR its pretty awesome lol
currently in Rome/Naples for 10 days for a teambuilding thing and actually miss it already
im right in old san juan at the heart of the neighborhood
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
That sounds awesome!
yburyug
@ybur-yug
its been a hell of a little adventure. gotta love joining a new company and within 3 weeks you already get a 10 day vacation for team building haha
have any of you guys had time to toy with phoenix post-1.0?
yburyug
@ybur-yug
my first sprint at the new gig I ripped out an upload service from our rails app and just did it in vanilla elixir + plug + a sinatra-like-framework, and an s3 interfacing library. So haven't had the chance, but holy shit is even what I've got fast. once we need first class websockets support, itll be time for it though.
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
nice. I still haven't used post-1.0
I think I will at a hackathon this weekend
yburyug
@ybur-yug
nice
theoretically once we finish ripping rails into services in elixir our heroku bill will go down to about 1/10 of what it is at a minimum
im kind of excited to see how close we get
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
wow, thats exciting
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
that's awesome to hear
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
elixiir/phoenix in production? I’m jealous
we have a project its proposed on but unlikely i think
yburyug
@ybur-yug
the service i rebuilt in it is now running on a single heroku dyno (free tier) and it is handling 50/reqs a second and hovers at like 30% use
previously it was the largest bottleneck in the entire system
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
:clap:
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
yeah, moving off heroku would also save money but nice to know it works well there too
yburyug
@ybur-yug
yeah the client is mentally attached to them hard
Chase Gilliam
@Ch4s3
:eyes:
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
deis seems prety impressive an oss heroku clone, though getting set up may nto be trivial
yburyug
@ybur-yug
our config isnt too crazy
docker running rails 4.2/ember 1.8
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
yeah, desi even uses heroku buildpacks etc
yburyug
@ybur-yug
nice
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
so from dev point of view i think its identical
yburyug
@ybur-yug
that theoretically would solve most of the problems
Brian Glusman
@bglusman
addons are different obviously
yburyug
@ybur-yug
ill bring it up once were back to working, bookmarked
were working on hiring a devops guy but right now most that is just falling on my extra time
though most things are quite stable so it isnt a big deal at the moment but were bringing some more folks on and it will be a need soon
