@zeekay
i guess with @branches you could do the same thing
maybe the index is just the default version
so you could at least get a known thing
ellipsis version patch - Create new patch version 0.0.1 -> 0.0.2
ellipsis version minor - Create new minor version 0.0.1 -> 0.1.0
ellipsis publish - Open PR for current tag
and if you want to override whatever is in the index
you just specify it
ellipsis install zeekay/vim - Get latest tag in index
Gertjan Roggemans
@groggemans
I think this could work :)
Zach Kelling
@zeekay
ellipsis install zeekay/vim@master - Get dev version
I mean we could make publish work after a user is authenticated
and has had the package added
we'd just gateway the initial addition of the package
and then reserve right to remove it from index later if it misbehaves
So that's not too onerous
Gertjan Roggemans
@groggemans
sounds good
Zach Kelling
@zeekay
cool, yeah that's not too hard, should outline that in a new issue

I asked github support to free the ellipsis username (account was inactive since 2010) And created the Ellipsis organisation and will transfer the ownership to you. I think it would be a good idea to put the index and app repositories under this organisation. It is of course your project and I don't want to tell you wat to do with it, so if you like to keep it under your own name, that's also fine for me! :smile: I'll give you the permissions on the org, and then the decision is yours! :smile:
Zach Kelling
@zeekay
Oh man awesome!
I'll add a couple of other contributors I work with too :)
I'll transfer it over that's awesome :)
Gertjan Roggemans
@groggemans
i'm happy you like the idea :)
Zach Kelling
@zeekay
Yeah so I guess ellipsis/index for the main package index?
Gertjan Roggemans
@groggemans
good!

@groggemans
Created another PR with some small changes. Didn't pull it in myself so it could be reviewed first.
Zach Kelling
@zeekay
Awesome!
I'll check it out in a few :)
Gertjan Roggemans
@groggemans
Is there a workflow you prefer?
Zach Kelling
@zeekay
Pull requests are great
New branch, PR.
We do have tests, I should probably update the CI stuff too.
Zach Kelling
@zeekay
Thanks for the PR @groggemans, I merged and made a few other minor tweaks, updated the website :)
I renamed the organization from Ellipsis -> ellipsis (mostly because the mixed case was messing up travis builds).
Started work on branch installs, hopefully have some time to finish that today.
Would like to get the index stuff sorted quickly too.
Zach Kelling
@zeekay
@groggemans finished adding branch/tag install support
Just use @branch or @v1.0.0
Gertjan Roggemans
@groggemans
I'll try it out when i'm home again! :smile:
Zach Kelling
@zeekay
went ahead and created an ellipsis specific chat, this is more random dumping ground for all my varied projects ;)

@tmesser
Whoo, finally getting caught up.
Heyya @groggemans! You've been awesome the last few days with ellipsis! Really helped me out!
Gertjan Roggemans
@groggemans
@tmesser just doing what i can for this awesome project! @zeekay i'll switch to the ellipsis specific chat :smile:
Gertjan Roggemans
@groggemans
@zeekay Do you get emails for failing travis builds of ellipsis-tpm? Then I'll switch to PR's faster so you don't get spammed with email from travis! (If not, I'm switching after the first non-alpha version)
Gertjan Roggemans
@groggemans
